     Sincerity. True charity. Christ honoring service. Unfeigned faith. Patience. All the characteristics of a people completely dedicated to the Lord that redeemed them. Surely God would smile upon them and their reward would be great in heaven. In Revelation 2:20, we see such a people, and we see that God told them "Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee." In verse 23 He stated, "I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts and I will give unto every one of you according to your works."

     For much too long the church of God has sat idly by and allowed Jezebel to infiltrate it's congregations. She's taught our children in her "Christian" curriculums, and our young adults in Bible colleges. She's seduced our men and women through radio, television, and "revival" literature. Sermons are listened to and books are read that stir emotion while magnifying false doctrine. God's Word is cast aside under the guise of perfecting holiness.

     For the sake of your children and your church, for the sake of society and sinners who need the truth; hold fast to sound doctrine. We as God's people, should never look to Jezebel to instruct us in how to seek His face, serve Him wholeheartedly, or to define our heritage. Let us not settle for an insidious counterfeit of God’s richest blessings.

     Carles H. Spurgeon wrote, "We care very little for the historical argument, but if there be anything in it at all, the plea ought not to be filched by the clients of Rome, but should be left to that community which all along has held by one Lord, one faith, and one baptism... It would not be impossible to show that the first Christians who dwelt in the land were of the same faith and order as the church now called Baptist... The time will arrive when history will be rewritten."

     Most historians have done something that God cannot do, and that is change history. Alexander Solzenitisyn said, "To destroy a people you must first sever their roots." We have read far too much Catholic and Protestant literature that has cunningly painted a deceptive portrait concerning our ancestry. The rewriting of history is not surprising, but Baptists accepting it and presenting this crooked picture as truth is extremely dangerous.

     Let us introduce ourselves to those men and women, who, through much oppression and opposition, held firmly to their one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. Let us make them our closest friends and our children's greatest heroes. Learn your true Baptist history and heritage.

     In Matthew 16:18 Jesus promised, "...I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Just three verses later, He begun to show his disciples the great suffering that awaited Him. Calvary was the place of the most extreme pain and suffering ever endured by a man. The agony, utter heartbreak, and death of Christ were causes for all of hell to celebrate. However, three days later the Lamb of God walked out of the tomb. Now that the bridegroom could no longer be touched, Satan turned all his wrath on the Bride. From Calvary down through each century, a great war has been fought for the soul of man. Faithful men of God and a dedicated remnant have endured mockings, scourgings, bonds, imprisonment, stonings and the sword. They have wandered in deserts, mountains, dens and in caves of the earth.

     It was this storm of religious persecution that led a man by the name of John Clarke to the shores of America in 1637. Instead of finding the respite he had hoped for, he stepped into a similiar storm. God used this faithful man and a dedicated remnant to ensure true liberty for the citizens of Rhode Island regardless of race, religious beliefs or social status.

     Through much suffering and steadfast faithfulness that reached beyond themselves, John Clarke, Obadiah Holmes, and a small group of Baptists gave the world "A Lively Experiment".

     Revival is probably the most misunderstood topic among God's children. We pray, we fast, we search the scriptures and still the church continues on in apathy. What is revival? Why do we spend so much of our time in search of something that continually eludes us? James 4:3 says, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your own lusts." God has made it very plain. He only says yes to those requests made with a pure motive. Jesus came to this earth to seek and save that which was lost. Our motives must be bigger than ourselves. A desire to enjoy an emotional stir simply is not enough.

     In 1755, a Baptist preacher by the name of Shubal Stearns saw a great need and yielded himself as a living sacrifice. With faith like a mustard seed, brother Stearns moved the mountains of tyranny, oppression, ignorance, and apathy. God used this simple, obedient man to flood America with the greatest revival in her history. In its wake was left a vast and strong "Bible Belt". The course of our great nation was drastically changed by fervent and doctrinally sound baptist churches whose converts were as drops of morning dew.

     It would be from this citadel, a city set upon a hill, that God would establish a Bible-belt in the South. The Sandy Creek Baptist Church would prove to be a spiritual fort and a mighty strong hold for Baptist doctrine. With earnest passion and zeal, the gospel would be proclaimed and grow greatly, because the LORD God of hosts was with them. The early Baptist preachers of Sandy Creek were a remarkable set of men. Raised by Providence to accomplish a great work, they were divinely girded for the severe and seemingly unequal conflict into which they entered. Our noble ancestors in the ministry continued the contest until the last vestige of the established church was erased from the statute book and religious equality was secured for all the citizens and sojourners in the state. They preached the gospel without any hope of earthly reward. The scorn of the rich and great, the violence of mobs, fines, and imprisonment, awaited them wherever they went. Still they preached, in private houses, in barns, in groves, and in prisons.

     These men deserve the commendation of mankind. It is our goal in this documentary to ensure that the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.      Are Baptists Protestants? Did the Baptists come out of the Roman Catholic organization? Did they attempt to purify the “church” from within? Did they begin during the Reformation era?      Who were the men that shaped this great nation known as the United States of America? Many would answer this question by listing the names of patriotic revolutionaries during the colonial times. Some of the most well known were Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Patrick Henry. Where was it that they learned the concepts of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and soul liberty? Several do not know the complete history behind these great leaders and their perceptions of freedom. Although they fought bravely to attain the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America, this is not the whole story. Men such as John Leland, John Gano, David Jones, and Andrew Tribble need to be remembered for thier heroism during fierce times of persecution. The imprisonments of John Waller, Jeremiah Moore, Wiliam Webber, Joseph Anthony, Lewis Craig, and John Weatherford need not be forgotten. It was through their suffering that the idea of “all men are created equal” was conceived. Certainly, they made the framers believe that all men are endowed by thier Creator with certain unalienable rights. Let us look at this great history as we try to uncover hidden Baptist treasures that Satan buried many years ago.
